Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the healing sacraments entrusted by Christ to His Church. Through this sacrament, Catholics who are repentant of their sins receive God’s mercy and forgiveness and are reconciled with God and the Church.
At St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, we invite Catholics to approach this sacrament regularly as an important part of the Christian life and ongoing conversion of heart.
Confession Times
- Friday: 8:00 AM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM

Please consult the parish calendar or contact the parish office regarding holiday schedules and special liturgical observances.
What Is the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
After His Resurrection, Jesus entrusted to the Apostles the ministry of reconciliation, saying:
“Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” (John 20:23)
Through the ministry of the priest, who acts in the Person of Christ, Catholics confess their sins, express sincere contrition, receive a penance, and are granted sacramental absolution.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation strengthens us in holiness, restores us to grace when necessary, and deepens our relationship with God.
Who May Receive This Sacrament?
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available to baptized Catholics who are properly disposed and sincerely repentant of their sins.
Those who are not Catholic, are exploring the faith, or have questions about becoming Catholic are encouraged to contact the parish office or learn more about OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults).
How to Go to Confession
- Examine your conscience and prayerfully reflect upon your sins.

- Receive any counsel and penance given by the priest.
- Pray an Act of Contrition.
- Receive absolution.
- Complete your assigned penance as soon as reasonably possible.
If it has been a long time since your last Confession, simply tell the priest. He will gladly assist you through the sacrament.
Preparing for Confession
Prayerful preparation is an important part of receiving the sacrament well. Catholics are encouraged to make a careful examination of conscience, asking the Holy Spirit for the grace to recognize their sins and shortcomings.
True repentance includes sorrow for sin and a sincere desire to amend one’s life with the help of God’s grace.
Returning to the Church
Many Catholics have experienced periods of time away from the practice of their faith. If you have been away from the Church and desire to return to the sacraments, we encourage you to begin with prayer and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
God’s mercy is never exhausted, and Christ continually invites us back into communion with Him.
