Altar Servers

Serving reverently at the altar and assisting during the celebration of the Holy Mass

The Altar Server Ministry at St. Clement of Rome Parish provides an opportunity to participate more deeply in the liturgy through reverent service during Mass and other parish celebrations.

Altar Servers assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of the Eucharist while helping foster a prayerful and orderly liturgical environment for the parish community.

Becoming an Altar Server

Those interested in serving as an Altar Server are invited to contact the parish office or the Director of Liturgical Ministries for more information about joining the ministry.

New servers receive guidance and training to become familiar with the responsibilities and flow of the Mass. After completing initial instruction, new servers typically shadow experienced servers before serving independently.

Training is designed to help altar servers grow in confidence, reverence, and understanding of the liturgy while developing a deeper appreciation for the Catholic faith and the Eucharist.

Safe Environment & Volunteer Requirements

St. Clement of Rome Parish is committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all parishioners, children, families, and volunteers.

Individuals participating in ministry service may be required to complete Diocese of Phoenix Safe Environment training and background screening requirements before serving.

If you have questions about Safe Environment requirements or the altar server training process, please contact the parish office for assistance.

Why Serve?

Serving at the altar offers a meaningful opportunity to grow closer to Christ through active participation in the liturgy and parish life.

Altar Servers learn responsibility, reverence, teamwork, and leadership while helping support the worship life of the Church community.
